Congratulations RME! You are probably the only person on the planet with both an original early 1708 and this new 1708. How about a couple side by side photos so we can analyze the differences? Differences I can think of would be the grip, the rollmarks, the trigger...anything else?

YYYESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!

Very nice, I love those.

I have a 1751 and I still want one of those 1708's.

I love it, that's my next "gotta have"right there, I just brought home the TALO 6" GP100 I've been drooling over, now I'm drooling over this one.......

Thanks! Pretty incredible just how similar they are. Overall I like the new one just fine except for the understated etchings of the old one. Of course I like the shortened verbiage on the new one but would prefer it to be not there at all or at least on the bottom.

So when do you get to shoot it?

Great photos RME - thanks! I wish they would start putting the warning under the barrel on the GPs like they do on the SPs and SRHs. I don't understand why they can't implement changes like that across the board. And the big rubber Hogue looks disproportionately large on the 3" GP but that's easily fixed with a new grip of your choosing.

Congratulations again on having a very "rare pair."

Nice!

Very nice, and great comparison photos. I like the grips and the cast trigger on the original best, but honestly, call me crazy, but I actually prefer the engraving on the barrel of the new model best.:)

That is nice.......3" with adjustable sights. If I ever find one it's coming home with me. You now need a Trailmaster holster to carry it in!

This new 1708 appears to me to be an excellent made revolver and very
close to the original except as noted above with a few slight changes.
The signage and lines on this 1708 are crisp but will smooth out some with
handling and use. The finish IMHO is not quite as good as on the original.
All in all just what I thought it would be, a fine Ruger product & sure to be
around for a long while. The changes made were very minimal and most
were for the better. Good Job Ruger!!
