Well as stated, I am working up a development load for my mini 30 with the 123 grain nosler varmageddon polymer tip bullet, and H322 powder. I chose that because I didnt have RL7, OR H4198 around. CCI #200 primer,. So starting at bottom 25 grains which yields 1900 up to, well a compressed load. 1 grain increments. Kept them between 2.205" to 2.210" on the top end, 10 round test ammo, 5 bags, so 50 rounds. Gonna test it soon to see the results. Will update when I do.

I've got a ton of brass cases and loaded brass ammo for the x39mm. Me being a curmudgeon and a scavenger I actually picked them up and brought them home. After a close inspection I figured it wasn't worth the effort. They went into the circular file.

I have plenty of white box winchester I bought many times from wally world years back, been reloading it.

I will admit I'm a scavenger too, lately I could get all the 5.56 that I want. But have a ton of it.

Correct.....the higher charge will be faster and exit the barrel quicker. Before the barrel begins to rise from recoil. A common condition in handguns. I'd think it would apply to rifles also.

I have found that I have attained the best accuracy out of the x39mm with a load that is about half a grain below max. This would be consistent with your 26.6 load of RL7. My Ruger American x39mm loved the poly tip Hornady and 25 grains of H4198. 25.7 is listed max in the Hornady books.

You are correct. In 45 colt my point of impact at 50 yards is the same for a 900 fps load as it is a 1250 fps load.
I'm sure that's due to bullet dwell time in the barrel.

I was prepping my brass today and found an animonoly. The RP and Hornady brass both have small rifle primers. The winchester is all large. Here is the evidence. Now to bulk batch of my pet load.

The RP x39mm has been running small rifle for years and years. I didn't know about the Hornady. I've never came across any.

Way back in the early years of reloading the 7.62x39mm, when brass was scarce, I used to scavenge all I could find at the range. Any RP I came across would get tossed, regardless.

Blasphemy........ equal to running a small pistol primer in .45 auto.(n)

I'm not polluting the stash.

Well, in todays times, I will just add it in, put a small rifle magnum primer in them. 7.62x39 brass is not as easy to find nowadays. most shoot steel.

Tacky, probably don't need a magnum. Small charge and somewhat fast powder for a rifle. I'd stay with a standard. It will be interesting to see if there is any difference in performance.

I think I have 800 new in box virgin brass and about 4k of brass ammo. Lately I've been shooting some factory and just reloading that. The Mini is the only rifle that gets the brass. The AK stays on a steel diet.

New x39mm brass is just about equal to loaded ammo in cost. PPU is a good buy if wanting to generate some brass. Decent quality. The loaded ammo cost was equal to brass only last time I bought some.

So does mine, steel for the sks, and ak's, brass for the mini.

I have some PPU in 8x57JS for my gewehr 98 that will get loaded eventually.
Well I finished the first 100, now need to order 200 more bullets, for the cases I prepped. Soon I forsee.

I will say I tested the new brake on my akm. Its night and day difference. Now I see why the ak74 has this style. Muzzle stayed planted through very rapid fire. No noticeable increase in back blast. Worth every penny. Out with the tapco razor, in with the 74 brake.

Tacky..... I like the looks. I searched on line and couldn't find similar that had the correct 14x1 LH thread pitch common to most 47's. Seems the 74's have a different pitch. Arsenal has one that has the 74 thread pitch.

How is the side blast and concussion?

Not more than usual with a brake, its benefits far out weigh its blast. The muzzle stayed planted which is what I was looking for, but I wanted to keep the commie looks as well. Here is where I got mine.

I recommend putting some red loctite on when you install it even though it has the indexing pin notch to take any play out. What I did, nice and solid.
