Good morning, I just picked this up yesterday. Early Xmas gift from wife.
I think she felt compelled to nurture my addiction since I recently upgraded her old embroidery machine with a new $2000 model. Anyway this is the Mark IV
22/45 Lite. It matches my Ford truck blue. I'm really impressed with the quailty of Rugers. I ordered 2 extra mags unfortunately there temporarily lost in transit on USPS. I wasnt planning any upgrades except possibly the grips. I found these Stoner grips in G10 that look killer. I was very surprised that the Ruger grips are actually rubber like and they have a nice feel. Upon removal they are stamped "MFG by HOGUE", very cool. No need to replace just yet. Ruger provides a nice hardshell case, 2 mags, padlock, and the little spacer to replace the right hand safety lever if I decide too. Cant wait to shoot this thing. I'll try it first with the stock sites, Then decide if I want to add my TRS 25 red dot.

Is this for target shooting? Trying to decide btw this and the Mark IV Competition model. I found a new Competition for $519. Would like to know pros / cons. Thanks

The competition will be heavier and have a longer sight radius. For stationary target shooting it should be easier to shoot well.

The "Lite" is just that, much lighter, has a shorter sight radius and is better for timed action shooting like Steel Challenge where it moves faster between targets. It will be harder to shoot well in deliberate aimed fire.

Adding a red dot will make the sight radius difference moot.

Nice looking those Blue grips would really dress it up. If you already have a TRS 25 I would put it on it will make shooting especially if you shoot indoors much so much easier. I have a TRS 25 on my MK IV 22/45 and I love it.

Just picked one up on Saturday...FOR the wife! She has a Mark IV Target in stainless but, because of ulnar nerve issues, it's too heavy for her these days. Even my blued target model is too heavy.
It's looking like a Volquartsen trigger will be here soon as well. What are other mods that folks like these days?

Congrats! I have a couple MKIII Lites and love 'em. I also have Stoner CNC G10 grips on my Coonan. They are nice grips.

I like the looks of the Blue Stoner grips, The Stock Ruger/Hogue's are pretty good. I just need to control my spending this time of year, Grandkids all expect something from Grandpa

I shot my friends MKIV 22/45 Lite and liked it so much I ordered a MKIV 22/45, I wanted a heavier gun for indoor targets. A super gun must more accurate than I am.

PS I'm shoot CCI Mini Mag 40 target and have had no real problem other than one mag, I have 5, will not load the first round without a tap on the bolt but the rest run fine.

Dave,

Congrats on the new MkIV 22/45 Lite! Love the Blue Shark Fin barrel...reason why I got that as a separate additional upper for my stainless and polymer lowers!! Your G10 Stoner grips are going to Really Look Great on Your 22/45!! :D

Enjoy...
