Well here's a new twist to the classic "inheritance" scams! Got the below email in my spam folder today. Pay attention to the parts I put in bold. This one is actually asking me to be a willing participant in fraud by pretending to be the next of kin

YOU ARE BLESSED

Dear Friend

My name is Mr.Peou Sann, a seasoned Banker with FOREIGN TRADE BANK (Cambodia office), I am account officer to a deceased customer of our bank, a national of your country that shares the same last name as yours. This deceased client of mine had heart-attack while driving along Siemreap on a business trip and died on a ghastly motor accident on the 14th of November 2011. His heart condition was due to the death of all the members of his family in the tsunami disaster on the 26th December2004inSumatraIndonesia.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004_Indian_Ocean_earthquake.

During their holiday there and his account of US$32,890,000.00 Million with us has been unclaimed due to unavailability of a next of kin/relatives to claim his estate. In accordance with the es-cheat laws in Cambodia as a kingdom, the board of directors of the Bank met forth night ago and resolved to turn the estate of the deceased over to Government having waited for too long without the deceased relatives/next of kin surfacing property and if this is done, invariably, the funds will end up to become Government property and it is as a result of this that am moved to contact you considering the fact that you share almost the same name with the deceased.

In view of this, am seeking your cooperation and understanding to stand as the deceased next of kin to enable us claim the inheritance before the period given by the Bank elapse. If you are interested and in agreement with me, get back to me quickly and I will send to you all our Bank contacts and the information's you may need to proceed without coming to Cambodia, and be rest assured that it is risk free project and the proceedings will be shared 40 once the fund are expatriated into your account anywhere in the world.

Please reply immediately with your telephone and fax numbers for easy communication and oral discussion. I shall wait for days and if I do not hear from you, I will look for another person.

Wait your prompt response immediately.

Best Regards.

The board meant a "forth night ago" was that before a fortnight or after.

I would reply that 32 million isn't "worth my while". :D

I got one 2 or 3 years ago with the same basic scenario. I had the same last name as someone who died and if I say I am the only relative , me and the banker split the cash.

If it's too good to be false.....does that mean it's really real?

I haven't seen these in years. But IIRC I've received these types of scams over the years from: Nigeria, Taiwan, China, Nigeria, Pakistan, Mexico, Indonesia, and a few dozen other third-world countries.

I have yet to receive a dime!! :p

I stopped getting those when I replied with "I'll be happy to do what you request,
as soon as the cash arrives."

In my younger days I've had nights where I've had a fifth night with a friend (ouch) but never a forth night.

In the past when they've needed "A check for $500 to process the paper work" on my "lottery winnings" or "inheritance" I'd tell them to just take that amount out of whatever I've "won" or "inherited" then send me the rest;)

But wait! That's not $32 million, it's really $32 trillion as he writes it ($32,000,000,000,000)! A million million is a trillion. I hope he tries me out.

I'd change my last name to theirs if I was contacted -- even by accident :)

You better hurry...you only have "...for days and if I do not hear from you, I will look for another person". I assume he will go find someone else with the same last name.

How do you pronounce this guys name?
Mr.Peou Sann

Is that Mr. Poison?
