Never dealt with howa products but sounds like a cool rifle . A true short action like my 77/357 ! What is the problem with their stocks that you don't like ?

The CZ is a good gun but I like a smooth bore. No sights. Plus I am a Howa fan. Ruger would be my preference but it doesn't seem like they are gonna offer one... right now.

I'm going against the grain and saying that iron sights are a must for a 7.62x39 bolt rifle.........sure, allow for optics to be mounted but a set of basic irons are almost a requirement.

We're talking about a round roughly the same ballistically as a 30-30, no one is asking for 30-30 lever guns without sights. 7.62x39 is a 300 yard round, at maximum.

There are Ruger M77 Mk2s "out there". They also made the Hawkeye compact in 7.62x39. I have a Skeleton stocked Mk2 in that caliber--It's a great little rifle!

Hate to disagree but a 7.62x39 bolt gun as far as accuracy and long range ability is far above any 30-30 made. I regularly shoot mine out to 400 yards. And I have yet to see a scoped 30-30 hold MOA let alone the sub-moa grops my guns get...

Savage Scout at 400 yards...

Ruger 77MKII Light Rifle 100 yards..

Ruger 77MKII at 100...

I think the reputation for inaccuracy comes from cheap AKs. The round itself is accurate when fired from a quality rifle.

I know of one 30-30 that shot better than MOA groups. The model 788 made by Remington. With a bolt action rifle the 30-30 can use spire point or match bullets. It transforms the cartridge into a whole other animal.
