This is a must read, HR 1022 dubbed the Law Enforcement Prodtection Act of 2007
One of the things that really tweeks me about this Bill (in addition to what's in it) is the name.... Assult Weapons Ban & Law Enforcement Proctection Act of 2007. Law Enforement Protection? Lets see.... the number of officers murdered over the past 10 years has stayed pretty much the same.
During that time we've had the original assult weapons ban put in place, and it's been let expire. Seems like it had no effect on the number of LEOs murdered, so I don't know why a new one would.
The vast majority of LEOs were murdered by assailants using handguns
and at very close range
but "assult" weapons are being targeted for their protection. Does that make any sense? Cars were used as murder weapons more often during 2005 than rifles were!
How about you and me and the threat to us by "assult" weapons? Well, almost 2 to 1, knives and other cutting insturments are used in murders more often than rifle and shotguns COMBINED! Hell, even blunt objects, fists and feet are used more often in murder than rifles or shotguns are.
The FBI has presented us with the facts, be sure to use them to protect our Rights.
