This is a must read, HR 1022 dubbed the Law Enforcement Prodtection Act of 2007

http://www.govtrack.us/data/us/bills.text/110/h/h1022.pdf

One of the things that really tweeks me about this Bill (in addition to what's in it) is the name.... Assult Weapons Ban & Law Enforcement Proctection Act of 2007. Law Enforement Protection? Lets see.... the number of officers murdered over the past 10 years has stayed pretty much the same.

http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/killed/2005/table13.htm

During that time we've had the original assult weapons ban put in place, and it's been let expire. Seems like it had no effect on the number of LEOs murdered, so I don't know why a new one would.

The vast majority of LEOs were murdered by assailants using handguns

http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/killed/2005/table28.htm

and at very close range

http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/killed/2005/table35.htm

but "assult" weapons are being targeted for their protection. Does that make any sense? Cars were used as murder weapons more often during 2005 than rifles were!

How about you and me and the threat to us by "assult" weapons? Well, almost 2 to 1, knives and other cutting insturments are used in murders more often than rifle and shotguns COMBINED! Hell, even blunt objects, fists and feet are used more often in murder than rifles or shotguns are.

The FBI has presented us with the facts, be sure to use them to protect our Rights.

Wow! so who would think that Mrs Mcarthy of New York would be so informed on assault weapons.

That much knowledge inside a womens head would make one think she must be a terrorist and would have went to terrorist training to learn all that.

Or

Perhaps the Brady bunch wrote it for her and she is really a dumb ass.

I know we could get political with this, no lets not, but lets make purchases that will allow us to have those purchases, Grandfathered in.

Looks like we all do RNettles! I may be wrong JB, but it seems to me that most people that use long guns to commit murder, use hunting rifle's with scopes, or shotguns. Any firearm used in a crime is often refered to by the Media as an "Assult Weapon". Except for hand guns, & they are almost always "Auomatic Pistols". They don't know what they are talking about. But, neither do the vast majority of the population in this country when it comes to guns. How did we learn so much about this hobby/sport of our's. And how gun's have been a big part of the growth & defense of this great country & our neighbor's are so cluelss[?]

All this crap isn't necessary, the Second is written in plain english. Infringement is unconstitutional. Instead of tacking another dozen pluses, and minuses to it, why not hold them to THAT simple fact.

I took care of my 'itch' right after the last ban expired...
