I put a .22 LR Green Mountain barrel on my 96/22WRM rifle after I had my gunsmith re-chamber it to 22 WRM. I'll get front and rear open sights added even though I have a Bushnell scope on it. (Gotta keep the old timey look too.)

It actually groups better than the factory barrel. Now to get the trigger worked on.

Next will be a Wenig laminated classic stock.

Interesting. I'd love to see a pic of that.

So, are you rebarreling it to .22lr after having the original chambered to WRM?

Or putting a .22 WRM barrel on it after rechambering a LR barrel to WRM?

They do vary a bit in bore size, I was wondering how you were addressing that issue.

Best wishes on your project.

Octagonal barrel on my Ruger 96/22 WRM

Like my post sez, I bought a Green Mountain 22 LR barrel (the GM octagonal 22 WRM barrel was WAY too long for my 96/22)

So I had the shorter 22 LR GM octagonal barrel re-chamberedin 22 magnum. Now it is a more accurate rifle.

Love it that it mimics my .308 Savage 99 C.
