Does any one have an opinion concerning the minimum/maximum.gap between the cylinder face and forcing cone on a revolver. I have heard that 0.002" is quite tight and that greater than 0.007' is excessive. My sp101 is at 0.005.

Thanks

jim85255, The SP-101 should run .004 to .008 with .006 optimum so yours is well within limits at .005. The old Ruger Six-Series revolvers should be .003 to .008 with .006 being optimum. The S&W K,L, & N frames are .004 to .006 with .005 being optimum. On the S&W's though, this figure will increase with wear. Shooting "normal" loads in your SP-101, you should not see any change in your lifetime........................Dick

Bowhunter,

It looks about the same as it looked 40 years ago, only the taxes are about 20 times higher.

I am moving to Arizona
