The extractor does hold the safety levers in place. However, the safeties are held together with a press fit. The right lever must come out first. Use a small screwdriver to gently pry it out. Rotate tha left lever down as far as it will go after removing the right lever and it should wiggle out. It is keyed in place. The firing pin will then pop out the rear. You will have to depress the firing pin block to reinstall the firing pin so it will go in far enough to be engaged by the left safety which holds it in place.
