I bought an old P89 the other day with the hopes of brining it back to life. I had not been properly taken care of, it wasn't clean and a few rust spots had formed. I bought it as a project...to try my hand at fixing it up so to speak. It needs to be refinished/blued pretty bad. I can handle getting the rust off and the rebluing, but with that I have a question.

Can the decocker/safety be removed from the slide? If so how, and do you even recommend doing so?

I want to blue the decocker/safety seperatly from the slide and I also want to refill the "safe" dot with with epoxy and do the same with the red "fire" dot.

Any suggestions?

Check out You Tube there are plenty of videos on this subject.I've done this on my P90's but not sure if the P89 is the same...
