A friend has a P91 that he is having trouble with so he brought it to me. This is the hardest to rack pistol I have ever seen. i took it apart and can't find anything that would make it do this. The only thing i see is that the trigger bar sticks up above the frame as the hammer is cocked. Is this normal? It looks like it would rub the slide.

I have a P91DC 40 cal and the recoil spring on these are extremely stout especially compared to a P91 or P90 , I think the standard spring is a 22ib on the 40 .

That is normal. It rises into a cavity in the bottom of the slide and will move down when the slide moves back.
