I don't think it will affect functioning. It is probably one of those little mistakes that happen during the manufacturing process. I bought a new SR9c SS last week and have found some little flaws in some spots. I guess we can all think that each little flaw in our guns makes it unique to us. Or sometimes like me I think that ticks me off.
Looks like minor flaw that will turn it into a collectors item. Now everybody will want one. Kinda like a double minted coin....
Based on its location, it won't affect the function of the firearm at all.
