I was reading the specs on the SR9, and I had a question. What does "Ambidextrous 1911-style manual safety" mean? I'm new to the whole pistol game. Where is the safety located at, and is there more than one?

safety is on both sides of pistol, right thumb or left thumb can use it...........

Also, '1911-style' refers in part to the fact that the safety is mounted on the frame, not the slide.

CodyBrown, this pic shows as Jay mentioned, the frame and slide mounted safeties. The 1911 safety is frame mounted and the P97's is on the slide. Both of these gun have the ambidextrous safeties which makes it nice for the lefties among us that just gotta use the wrong hand
