Given that most loads are listed with powders that work well in a shorter barrel handgun, what did you find that worked better in the longer barrel carbine?
I'm going to start off with Horn 180 XTP because both the Ruger & Glock seem to shoot that weight the best.
But I do have a box of 155gr XTP also

I am starting a similar quest except for 10mm carbine. I did just score a huge box of 1000 180 gr FMJ bullets so no more choices, that's what I'm using
With more case space I'm looking into some slower powders that you may not have the luxury or room to use
If I was doing 40 in a carbine, I'd be looking at CFE pistol or maybe AA#5 or 7.
Basically the slowest burn rate powder you can fit in a 40 case with a 180 bullet.

@444HAL, I’d look into Longshot if you can find any. It preforms pretty good in a carbine length .40.

Power Pistol was developed with the .40 in mind. I have gotten good accuracy from my .40 handguns with it.

OK, turns out that 7.0gs of HS-6 got 5 of them making a 1/2" hole at 15yds.
Hornady book says it'll run about 1000fps out of a 4inch barrel. Imagin what it's doing out of the carbine.
