Hi!

I have a brand new Ruger Precision .308 and I haven’t even been to the range yet. The folding stock button won’t depress in. I’ve even tried pushing it with leverage and it is a complete no go. Any thoughts? Is there a trick to this that I am not seeing?

Is there any play in the stock at all?

Do you mean when it is folded and won't be opened, or when it is spread and you can't fold it?
Because, when I fold the stock, several times happened to me to accidentally turn the locking lever that is on the other side of the push button. This stops the opening movment.

I had the same problem with my Gen II when I picked it up new; I used a small rubber hammer to tap on the button, so it would release. Once you break it free the first time, the button starts to work more freely with each additional use.
