As you know, Kansas finally passed its concealed carry law. It doesn't take effect until Jan 1, 2007. The District Attorney in Shawnee county has already offered to provide 'No Handguns' signs to any business that wants them. (It's an election year.) I had an editorial published questioning his motives and who was actually paying for the signs. Of course his office did not respond. Now the Topeka City Council is trying to come to an agreement on a standard sign banning handguns from places of business. Damn! Why can't these idiots just take a 'wait-and-see' attitude? Are they expecting the gun fight at the OK Corral? I've said this before and I'm sure it isn't an original idea, but I think they should post signs reading "Murderers, rapists and robbers welcome! No one is armed on these premises except you.".

bunzo351: A large portion of the issue revolves around whether or not a state has a pre-emptive law, if not, any municipality anywhere can enact an anti-concealed carry ordinance resulting in a patchwork of laws and ordinances that are almost impossible to keep up with.

Thankfully, Kansas law does not allow cities to modify the CCW law.

Sheepdog: In Texas-the proper sign is respected-all others are ignored-by me, anyways....but I go out of my way to make sure the SALES mgr. knows where my money and others I know WON'T be spent...money is all they understand. They have the right to deny us-but we have the right to deny them-which affects their bottom line more??

I hear you. Surely my money is as good as that of some of the slime that are</u> welcome and do not have a CCW permit.

Agree with both of you. I always figured it was better to be convicted of a misdemeanor than end up dead.
