When you move from one state to another. Lets use the example of Florida To New York because I know NY has this law on the books.

You have to re-register all your guns that you did not buy in NY. Its the law. I don't know how many people actually do that. I am sure it not too many!! But they are suppose to!

How many states have a law on the books that says you have to re-register your guns when you move to there state?

Does anyone know if Pennsylvania has that type of law on the books?

No such law in the gun friendly state of Alabama. I lived in PA and I don't recall any law that required registering firearms there.

Amazingly, there is no firearms registry in New Jerseystan. AFAIK, only NFA firearms and devices have to be registered.

(I get a kick out of people who own, and then laws about evil black assault rifles. go to the Ruger site and look at the AR-556 and then look at the mini-14 "ranch rifle", one looks like the tool of a crazed mass murderer and the other one looks like grandpa's wood stocked hunting rifle. both hi capacity 5.56. funny, huh?)

Add MN to the last grouping.

MN has laws that specifically prohibit the state keeping a firearm registry.

We do have to have either a "Permit to Purchase" or a Carry permit (both require backfround checks, first is free and lasts for a year. Carry permit require training, a fee and lasts for 5 years.) One or the other is needed to purchase an handgun or certain types of semi-auto rifles. (Think AR or AK type)

The FFl looks at the Permits to sell but the State doesn know know if a firearm is actually purchased. They just know the person has the ability to obtain the handgun

There is no registration of firearms in PA. In fact it is illegal in PA for the govt or police to maintain a data base of gun owners. That being said, since PA uses PICS (Pennsylvania instant check system) which is operated by the state police, it would not surprise me to find out that they secretly and illegally are saving info on the people who are run through the system. By law the National instant check service is also not allowed to save info on people run through the system for more than 24 hours, but do you really trust that they aren't backing up the info somewhere before the NICS data is purged for the day? Look at some of the crap the NSA has pulled as far as data collection. I would not be surprised at all if it came out that the NSA was tapped into the NICS system and any other data base of gun owners or CCW permit holders and that they are maintaining an illegal gun owner data base. I basically don't trust the government. Since they have been secretly collecting all this meta data on everyones phone calls for years why wouldn't they be doing the same with gun records?

NO registration of non-NFA firearms here in AZ !! We also have the right to CC without a permit, and the right to open carry. Probably why we are the most gun friendly state in a recent Guns and Ammo poll.
