So the dedicated plates provide for a lower more svelte profile, in exchange for flexibility in mounting position & universal compatibility, simplicity, and cost. Any other considerations I'm overlooking? Seems most choose ejection port over rearmost position- any issues with aluminum in the dovetails, ending up with play in the fit after mounting?

The one I'm looking at, the burris plate that works with the vortex also, the picture of it on amazon & brownells just shows a flat plate with screws for the mk iv, not the contoured underside with dovetail interface as like the 1911 version pictured below. Does the mk iv version not look like this (see attached) also?

Any other considerations I'm overlooking, problems with dovetail position or otherwise?

What firearm do you plan on installing the plate and sight on?
