A question. I have a 4.2" RH .45 Colt I plan to use 325-335 grn. bullets at 1200 fps + in in bear country (MT and Northern ID). I know Bowen makes a sight blank 0.060" taller than stock. Do you find that you need this height or less works ok? This is not for hunting but more as protection at closer ranges when out and about in the woods.

Where does it hit on the target? If high it'll need a taller front sight, low will need a shorter front sight.

Bowen, I know, on the heavy bullet guns uses a taller front sight. On the 4.2" he mounts a Weigand base (I think) and interchangeable sights. The problem iwth mine is that it is the new model with the factory interchangeable front sights. He does make a taller sight blank for these, though. I am wondering if I will need this.
