Money would not be the factor for me, and I am broke.
Sometimes a diamond that cost a dime is in the end worth 10 cents.
If it's for protection I would read this again.
If you are going to hunt with it i would go for the 7.5" ....if you are going to carry for SD only then the Grizzly or whatever is going to be close so it wont matter and i would go for the 5.5" for ease of carry and point-ability.
But for hunting IMHO I would get the red hawk hunter 7.5" Has the rib like the black hawk hunter for a nice scope mounting. If not fiber optic sights would definitely be put on.
For me I think the super RH with the extra heavy add on in front of the cylinder at the rear of the barrel is ugly. If I got the used one it would have to pass a good gunsmiths looking over.

I would personally prefer the 7.5 inch barrel, especially at that fantastic price and with the low amount of rounds through it. I do have a 7.5 inch SRH in .44 mag. and also a 7.5 inch Redhawk in .41 mag. Love them both and the accuracy is great. Extra 2 inches would probably tame recoil a bit too.

Hey all, this is my first post, and I need some opinions. I am hunting a lot in Bear country (Grizzly bear, not black...), and am buying a pistol for woods carry/defense, and a .44 mag seems to be my best choice with Buffalo Bore 305 gr. loads.

My dilemma is to get the Redhawk in 5.5" or the Super Redhawk in 7.5". I would like the 5.5" because of the ease to carry in a holster and it being lighter, but some love the longer barrel of the SRH with the huge Buffalo Bore loads.

If I bought a Redhawk in 5.5" I would buy new, but I know someone who would sell me a SRH 7.5" that is roughly 6 years old, shot less than 25 rds. for about $300. I know you all are going to say not to pass up that price, but is the 5.5" really going to be worth my extra expense to buy a new one for ~$750? Thanks!

You by chance hunting around the Dubois area? That's where I have bumped into grizzlies. Just bought a Super Redhawk Alaskan with the 2-1/2" barrel and it's just right for grizz country.
