Greetings,

I own a mark iv hunter and am loving it. However I’m in the middle of replacing the rear sight and having some issues. I removed all the screws and tried to hammering out the dovetail with a hammer and brass punch. After bending the punch and what appears to be an unmoved rear sight, I am thinking of keeping the original rear sight in place. And only replacing the center piece. But I’m now concerned if I did manage to move the dovetail even a bit would this be affecting my accuracy or the Or the gun itself?

Good information for other MK IV owners. The stock sight leaves a lot to be desired. The rear sight requires a barrel holding fixture, soft jaws, vice, etc. Factory installation does not include any hand fitting so the sight is forced into the dovetail whether it fits or not. The dovetail is definitely not a standard shape. Another avoidable frustration for MK IV owners.
