I lost mine and was wondering if they're really necessary to fire the gun, i threw an after market stock on the gun and was wondering if i can shoot the gun with the holes on the top or if they REALLY need to be on there?

Nero Fox, The gun will function just fine without the filler screws, however a safety caution is in order. 10/22s are "blow back" operated, which means a lot of burnt powder residue blows back into the receiver. Because some of the scope base screw holes go all the way through the receiver, you may get a blast of hot powder residue in your eye, via a screw hole. I highly recommend replacing the filler screws before you shoot the gun again. As a "band-aid" fix you can use a piece of tape to temporarily cover the holes until you get replacement screws.
