I have a question to you Ruger American Owners.... I have a Ruger American in .308 Win. caliber.. Reading the manual, it says that you should torque your barreled action to 75-80 in. lbs.. My question is this... How many of you torque your actions that tight, and what do you torque your actions to..??? Most of my bolt actions are torqued to between 25-35 in. lbs..

Thanks for your input...

It’s 75-80 IP for a reason.......be glad it’s not an M77, they’re set at 95 IP.

I never checked mine... don’t usually use a torque wrench.

Torque it to spec. The American has a bedding block in it, so you don’t have to worry about compression of the plastic or wood.
