I have decided to do a little bit of tinkering on the ole Ruger American.

I went to Walmart. I bought rustoleum gray primer and stone textured paint.

Does the stone textured paint change the "grippiness"/feel of the stock?

Nice! Is that a .308? I plan on doing something similar to my RAR .30-06. I put Rockite in the stock and forearm and really stiffened it up. Added about 4 pounds and it has light recoil.

Yea .308 Win. The paint does give it a rough feel. It grips better to me.

Hello Rugernc , that looks good . I did exactly the same thing , gray Rustolem and gray textured stone paint, to a couple 10/22 stocks . Did one in a tan color too but like the gray better . I read about it in one of the gun mags about 10 or so years ago . Good job !
