I received my Mark III Grip Frame today. It makes my Mark II look like a new gun. It is so much nicer with the 1911 Mag release. It was very tight fit to get the receiver/ Barrel on the frame. It will take a little while before it loosens up to break down.Now I will have to buy a used barrel and bolt for the Mark II frame. I even took the silver phoenix off the Mark II magazines and put them on the Mark III Magazines. Thanks to JStacey for naming it a Mark II.5. The new frame came with a Volquartsen target trigger but I like the older wider trigger better so I replaced it.Had to use the Mark II trigger pin though, the newer trigger pin was really tight on the older Volquartsen trigger that it would not even go through the trigger. Turned out nice and tight and very happy with it. Now off to the GunSmith for a Factory Ruger scope rail drill and tap installation.

James yes I am going to scope it, as soon as I get some more money up. This up grade with the Mark III frame was about $300 bucks ( in American money ) including the 2 magazines I bought. I will have the gun drilled and tapped for scope rail this weekend if the Rail gets here from Ruger by then, but I don't think it will. It will take a little while to get the scope.

At my age your barrel is about half the distance to the target I shoot at. My wrists are hurting just looking at that pistol.

Tiremansws, It really is not as bad as you think. I am not a young buck myself. I will use the gun without the scope for closer range and with the scope for bench rest precision shooting at 25 yards and beyond. But mostly 25 yards. When I want to go further than that I usually take my Savage out. This one.

Crown Royal, I intend on using a Leatherwood 2-7x32 LER scope. I have purchased 2 others for my S&W Model 41 Barrels and they are just great scopes. The 10 " Ruger is at the GunSmith getting a Ruger Scope rail put on (drilled and Tapped). The scope should be in this week and then the gun will be ready to go. I have quick release scope rings so I can use a scope or take it off and use the iron sights if wanted.

Well I got the Mark II.5 back from the Gun Smith the other day and received the scope today (11-27-12). Finally got the gun just the way I want it. Can't wait to see what it will do on the range this weekend. Things done to this Mark II 10" ( or so named Mark II.5 )
1. Volquartsen complete innards
2. Mark III Lower with the 10" Mark II upper
3. Volquartsen 1st Gen target trigger drilled and tapped for pre-travel also
4. Ruger Scope rail add ( drill and tapped by Gun Smith )
5. Leatherwood / Hi-Lux Optics 2-7x32mm Long Eye Relief LER27X32 scope

Here are some pictures, I have to say I am very happy the way this gun turned out. I do have way to much money rapped up in to it but to me it was well worth it so far. I am sure it will shoot as accurate as my S&W 41 that I sold that was set up with the same scope. I know this gun has been flawless, something that I always struggled with on my 41. I just really Love the way it turned out. looks new and factory drilled and tapped.

It is accurate, but not as accurate as my S&W 41 that I had. But I really did not take all the time I could have. So I blame my self more than the gun, I am sure when I get to the range the next time and really get down and concentrate it will be even better. This target was fired at 25 yards from bench 10 rounds each bullseye slight wind with CCI SV ammo. I am going to try some Wolf ammo also but it is $10.00 a box of 50. I will probably stick with the CCI SV at $8.00 a box of 100 and Federal auto match at $15.00 a box for 325 rounds. I Love the gun it's fun to shoot and it will only improve as I take more time and learn the quirks of the gun a little more.
