The Ruger P89 was ALMOST what I wanted, but not quite, so I made it what I wanted. Improvements include:

20 pound hammer spring
Uncle Mikes rubber checkered handgrips with steel inserts
Purple bluing stripped off, slide refinished with black manganese phosphate parkerizing, and then oiled ( the oil is whats shiny in the picture).
All work was performed by me, even the parkerizing, which was done on my stovetop. I have tested for accuracy against my Sig Sauer 229, and it is just as accurate. I think this one is a keeper.

nah, I just deblued the slide with blue and rust remover, washed in dish soap, rinsed for 10 minutes under hot water, degreased with denatured alcohol. A light brown coat of rust will form in this short time frame. Before I parked, I brushed the surfaced bright again with a stainless steel brush, the kind that comes in a cleaning pack of three from wally world, one nylon, one bronze, one stainless, use the stainless to rebrighten the steel, and off yah go. Oh, and use rubber gloves and change them at EVERY step, dont cross contaminate!!
