Ruger Super Wrangler

I have had a bronze Wrangler for a couple of years. I have found it hard to shoot accurately. My eyesight isn't the best for those sights.

I have been interested in the new Super Wrangler since it was announced. I have been monitoring the local gun stores for a few weeks. Only a locally owned store had one in stock, but they always charge the full MSRP for their guns. Scheels was the only chain store that listed it. Their website changed daily from "Available for Pickup", but not at my local store or anywhere close to me, to "Unavailable". Yesterday, it finally showed "available for pickup" at the local store. I threw it in the cart and got an email that is was ready to be picked up about an hour later. I went to the store and came home with it less than an hour later.

I went to an indoor range today and checked it out. I was able to shoot it much more consistently than the standard Wrangler. I threw a little paint on the sights. I am going to enjoy this gun!

I might sell my original Wrangler to Scheels. When I got my LCP Max from them, they gave me 80% of their new price for my LCPII. Not a bad deal.

Congrats on your new shooter.

I was leery about it when first announced, but I handled one at the Gun Show last weekend and that wider grip gives it a real good muscular feel and it looks less fragile overall. I wouldn't mind one chambered in .22 WMR.

Post a pic.

No I have not as it still shows unavailable. But someone gave me a link to "vance" and I think they do have it. Just have not been able to complete "my research" on vance yet. Was I think very close to msrp but have to look again

Vance is a great store (or stores, since they have three). I've purchased guns from them for many years with no complaints.

After reading a lot about the wranglers I think i'm going to hold off on purchasing one until the reviews get better. I do not want to purchase a turd.

I have read a lot of reviews on both sides, like and dislike. Some just hate it because they're purists, which is fine, but it gets repeated often.

You have to remember, before the recent release of the 'Super Wrangler', all of the Wrangler's have been "trough and blade sights". That may not mean as much in a larger caliber, but with a round as small as .22, it can look like a wider group. Not to mention, some people are shooting them at distances as much as 25 yards and expecting adjustable sight groups. Making sure the blade is in the center of the channel (assuming that's where your hits), and finger placement on the trigger (more or less finger) can be important too.

I'm not saying they are all super accurate, some may be downright inaccurate, but a few of the factors I mentioned might be part of the cause for some of the dislike.

My experience with my Birdshead Wrangler wasn't great at first, it shot 3-4" low-left . All I needed to do was change the hammer spring to Wolff 19# hammer spring and a 40 oz trigger spring, then filed the front sight a little, and then it shot dead on at 7 yards. I have $14 in the springs.

I really like it, especially for around $200. I'd buy another today and another tomorrow if I had the money and wanted one. I may buy another birdshead at some point. I plan to buy a Super Wrangler later too.

You have to decide for yourself of course. Just giving another observation and my experience.

Yes i agree with what you have said but..... when you purchase a new gun you have certain expectations and one of which is being able to hit the target without having to perform modifications.

So you've never had to adjust your sights on your firearms to dial them in?

Nope and i have never had to put more money into a new gun to make it work.

im seriously thinking of one for the tractor/farm side arm tht i was hoping the wrangler was to serve , i am apprehensive given my Turd Wrangler debacle i experienced , i like the fact its blueprint is the single six and the single six upgrades are compatible , also the magnum , and with the cerekote instead of blued finish , but for the time being im just going to sit back and this time watch the real world users posts about it instead of YT influencers
there was a place in the mid west that advertised send them your wrangler and for $200 they would tune it , by the time you factor that and the cost of the weapon , shipping both ways you ar right at a much better firearm

$14 worth of Wolff Springs and an $8 file.

You cannot bend Ruger front sights. This leaves a file, and canting the barrel with locktite on the threads to make the adjustment permanent. I gave my G S paper targets shot from 10 yds, at an indoor range, to keep the math simple for him. One and done for this Southpaw on both the Wrangler and 45 acp Birdshead’s.

Plan B May be the $20.00 Lyman diopter c discs which you moisten and stick to your c master eye’s shooting glass lens.

That wasn't my point, he said "when you get a new gun you expect to hit what you're aiming at", and I asked if he'd ever had to adjust sights (any gun, most people have). I also mentioned exactly how I did mine and went from shooting 3+inches off diagonally and how I addressed it easily and cheaply to exact POA at my desired range.
