I have a Security-Six .357; if I pull the trigger back to almost full then lower it but not completely down you can't pull the trigger to fire it must be lowered completely. Is this common?

Normal operation. The trigger sear and hammer notches must be in their correct relationship to move the trigger. Otherwise they could be damaged. Why would you want to fire the gun with the hammer between full cock and fully down?
