Picked this up today from the Gun Library. The first new gun I've seen in there in maybe 6 months that I (or probably most folks) would have any interest in. And the old stock keeps hanging in there (a bunch of Ruger single actions, some Buckmarks, some expensive 1911s) and they're under a strict "no discounts" policy. Despite the fact that I shouldn't have, I forked over $499 + tax. Given the price on almost everything else, I was surprised it was marked at "only" $499. A year ago I wouldn't have paid more than $400-425 OTD, but those days seem to be gone. But since it was not priced outrageously, I figured WTH. I will say that it's by far the nicest blued Security Six that I've seen in the wild, with maybe 2 or 3 others in 4" that come to mind in the last five years or so since I've taken a real interest in revolvers, and those had definitely seen better days. There's one at a local pawn shop right now with wear, some ugly spots, a touch of rust, and not so nice aftermarket grips, asking $649. I don't think so. Not a big fan of 6" 357s, but I think the Security Six in 6" may be better proportioned than the 4". YMMV. Website dates it to 1982.

Anyway, I'll give it a good cleaning and some RenWax tonight.

EDIT: Added a couple "after" pics.

Great find, and you will enjoy shooting that one. Price was not bad for the time we are in.

I think you did quite well with your purchase. I bet you will enjoy shooting it. I recently purchased a 4" blued Speed Six and love it. Very accurate in single action mode.

I own a twin to your new Security six. right down to the oversized Ruger grips.
I think you did well, you will enjoy the balance and accuracy of the 6" barrel.

Very nice Security Six. Considering all things, I think that price is fine. I bought my 6" NIB in 1981 for $195.00!

Added a couple pics following cleaning and RenWax. Not much of a difference since it was pretty clean to begin with.

I bought this one with original Ruger grips March 2020 as everything was closing down. The gun was on consignment , the only revolver and one of a very few guns available. There were several people waiting for background check to clear.
I have a CCW so I was able to buy and leave. I paid $425 and I added the Herretts .
