Got to shoot my 1st silenced pistol.
It was a ruger 22/45 pistol w/threaded barrel. Ammo used was Remington subsonic .22 lr.
Amazing reduction in noise. No jams. I can see why some people would be facinated with these. Can't remember the brand silencer. Was a dry type that the owner said comes with a special tool so he can disassemble it himself for cleaning.
Bottom line:
$200.00---silencer
$200.00---fed paperwork
His next project is to thread a .22 rifle for the silencer.
Don't need it, don't have a use for it, but dang it was sure nice!

I shot a suppressed S&W 76(45acp) once, it was very quiet. About the only sound was the action opening/closing. Owning a suppressor seems like fun, but I wonder if the novelty would wear off.

The fly in the ointment is the dang federal fee and keeping up with the paperwork. But it sure was fun!

There is no real paperwork issue to keep up with once you go through the initial huge paperwork hassle of getting the suppressor. The only other paperwork is if you want to transport the gun across state lines or are moving out of state you must file a simple form with ATF. www.subguns.com is a great resource for all Class 3 weapons.
