I have a 3 screw Single Six and would like to remove the hammer so I can clean the rust stains off of it's sides.How much disassembly is required to get the hammer out and put back in the simplist and easiest way? Thanks.tom.

deputy tom, First you have to remove the grip frame (5 screws) then unscrew the hammer pivot screw and the hammer will drop out the bottom along with the pawl.

I am looking to do the same, is it a pretty straight forward? Should I be expecting any surprises getting into the hammer and trigger?
