I’m beginning to feel the need to compete with you guys that have a closet full of ammo … feeling inadequate over here … suffering from ammo-envy.

I got tired of spending a half hour to 45 minutes finding ammo for whatever I wanted to shoot. My "ready use" ammo had gotten out of control. That is the open boxes that I am shooting out of. It had grown to five zippered bags and two ammo cans with rifle and handgun cartridges mixed together. I had also bought or reloaded ammo recently that needed to go into the appropriate caliber specific cans for full cartons in storage. What a chore! I was dripping sweat before I finished. I say finished, but I never even dug out my crate of 12ga birdshot and turkey loads. I still have some of that to put away. The loose ammo boxes in the safe were not touched. The shelves are packed front to back and that's a project for another day. I broke my ready use stuff up into bags labeled rifle ammo, revolver ammo, semiauto ammo, rimfire, shotgun, and mags/ accessories. Full boxes were added to the proper can or toolbox for storage. Now I am ready to go shooting but have to work all weekend. 😔

The last pic was my favorite. "Assorted handgun ammo" as opposed to the endless boxes of assorted handgun ammo in the previous images 😂

I wouldn't have so much if I bought at today's prices. Ammo used to be much more reasonable. Stores actually had sales every so often.

You know... I meant .380acp, .25 Auto, .32 S&W, snake shot, and other oddballs. My label should have been more clear. 😁

Prices are relative.
I remember stocking up on 9mm when Academy Sports had 50rnd boxes for $7.99.
Back then I could barely afford 5 boxes, but thought that was a lot.

I also remember the shock and the bitching when LC 5.56 hit .30cpr. :ROFLMAO:

That’s my motto. And the number of 50 cal ammo cans is kind of embarrassing.
I doubt it's as embarrassing as mine.

Aren't you still buying ammo?

I’m just replacing what I shoot now. Sort of.

I did get a case Belom 7.62x39 that was on sale.

So, I guess for today….because it’s one day at a time for me, I’m buying when it’s on sale.

Sounds like you have not reached the point that you have too much. :)

You are spot on. It's all relative. When I bought my first centerfire pistol P95, I bought exclusively from Freedom Munitions. Back then they had a first order special of free shipping. Regardless of quantity bought. So my friends and I took turns ordering ammo as first timers. A box of Freedom Munitions remans 9 mm was like $8 a box and always in stock. I haven't bought from them in a few years but now prices are probably like $20 - $25 for a box of those 9's. Trust me my pay rate hasn't increased that much.

It's funny,
I was filling up my truck yesterday and watching the gas pump.......
It occurred to me that I remember when the gallons turned a lot faster than the dollars, now it's the other way around.

.....yet I'm still buying gas.

All my ammo is stored in steel 50cal ammo cans. Now that Harbor Freight has best in market ammo cans it's really easy to add cans as my hoard grows. I have all the cans labeled and a spreadsheet to keep track of my inventory. I limit my ammo to 22lr, 38/357, 44spl/44mag, 9mm, 223/556 and 308. Concentration not diversity for me.
