I have a SP 101 with the spur hammer. Where can I get a suprless hammer with out sending the gun back to ruger. Ruger says they will change out the hammers but will not return the part replaced. I want to keep spur hammer in case I sell the gun at a later date.
Welcome to the Forum! I would try Brownells. Or Gun Parts Corp. They are the only two that might have one. Sometimes you can find something like that on Ebay as well.
My understanding is that Ruger will not sell these and I couldn't find any. The spurless hammer from Ruger does not have a single action cocking notch so it makes your SP101 a true DA only. I had a gunsmith cut the spur off mine ($30) and put some serrations for cocking on the stump ($10) that was left. This gets the best of both worlds. Snag-free draw and SA if your situation calls for it.
