Well, I have been tied up with a big case, but now I am playing with guns again. So what is the deal with the SR45? Is it basically an SR40 in 45 caliber? Is it available? Looking at the specs it seems like it is already California legal, so I imagine it will be showing up at the LGS soon?

I really like my SR40c for the look and feel, and easy way that it breaks down. So it might be fun to pick up the SR45 before the Socialists simply ban them.

I'd noticed you had been AWOL for a few weeks.

I haven't seen the SR45 in my area yet. They have been shipped to some areas of the country, though. With the current "buy everything in the store" mentality, I'm not expecting to see one for a while.

Reports so far say they are just like the rest of the SR series.

I handled an SR45 today at my local Cabelas. I didn't see nor ask what the price was. It felt just like the full sized SR9 and SR40 models.

The SR45 has shown up here and looks to be just like a SR40/SR9 only larger caliber. But I haven't played with it yet. Only here they are priced at $529 (full list).

I like my SR40c and likely won't pick one up for a while, if ever, but it seems like a good gun at a decent price (compared to 1911's around here...)

Hey Redleg, yes they are CA legal. I just bought one and I am picking it up this Thurs. Can't wait. Anyway, bought it online at Clarke Arms for $430 total shipped to my FFL here in CA. Fast and painless deal. Just got my 2 extra mags today that I ordered from Ruger.

Very pleased with the SR45 I bought 2 months ago @ Hoffman's (CT.) for $440. Wish it were black, but two-tone will have to do. Popped various rounds through it with no issues, HP, +P, reloads and factory FMJ. The gun was dead -on out of the box and like the SR9, runs flawlessly. A tad bigger and feels heavier than the SR9 when carrying even with 7 less rounds in the magazine, but it fits any SR9 holster I have. Very nice gun. I began buying 45acp ammo before I bought the gun knowing I'd eventually buy a 45. Glad I did because it ain't cheap now even if you find it. Lucky enough to pick up 100 rounds of American Eagle FMJ 230gr for $49.99 @ Hoffman's Gun Store in CT. today. The most surprising aspect of the SR45 is the diminished recoil and a very good, crisp trigger. The mags fit a bit snug at first, but they'll loosen up with use. The SR9 is the best all-around 9mm I ever owned. With the new Hi-Cap ban in my state the SR45 makes more sense for me.

My LGS had a dozen SR45s last week @ $449.99 per. But, they were all SS versions. I'm holding out for the all-black one.

Low recoil, great accuracy, failure to feed's are annoying, and no it's not limp wrist or ammo, think it's the ejector but ruger shot 30 rounds and thinks it's fine, even though at 31 rounds it jams on me.

mine has been flawless through 500 rounds. I am as impressed with this one as I was with the 9 and 40. good series of weapons.

In response to your question, yeah, the takedown/internals are the same as far as I could tell after detail-stripping it. My brother bought one recently, we took her out and had a blast; for no more than you'd shell out for a budget 1911 (Rock Island, etc) you get a decent quality .45 autoloader that puts 2-3 more rounds at your disposal, in a platform that (speaking as something of a butterfingers) I can field strip and put back together, blindfolded, in less than a minute.
I have a Ghost Ultimate trigger reset bar that helped a lot with my SR9's trigger; I haven't checked if it's compatible for the SR45, but I'd lay good odds on it being interchangeable between both models.

My SR45 is on lay-away at $439.95 which is a good price, IMO. Can't wait to get it out and start shooting it. ;)

Good info from everyone on the SR45. It's on the list. My LGS had some but they sold out the first day. I'm sure Ruger is cranking them out as we speak. Rumor is right now only Stainless available here in the People's Republic which is OK. The Stainless SR40 looks pretty cool, so I'm sure the SR45 will as well.

cracked cam block sr45

I just purchased a sr45. After my second trip to the range I was cleaning it when I noticed a crack in the cam block where the take down pin sits! I have only used factory ammo,no+p ,abt. 300 rds. I love the pistol Knew I would. I will be calling Ruger Monday and see what they say. I own several SRs and a LC9 without a single problem, Hope they can send me a new cam block without my having to return the pistol. Would be a lot less down time!

Has anyone else experienced this problem? :(

Just wanted to state that ImpactGuns.com has the SR45 in stock now, item 736676038015. Their price is $443.99.

I'm not buying, just passing this along. But I do want one. :)

I just ordered a two tone SR45 on Saturday since their warehouse was out of them... They told me eight weeks or less or more. But he felt that it would be less than eight weeks. I got mine for $469 at Turners Outdoorsman... If you're in HB, there's one on Brookhurst in Fountain Valley...
