To test the newest Ruger, Erik Leslie of Magtech sent me 10,000 rounds of 9mm ball ammo with which to thrash the SR9. My testfire crew and I have "only" managed to put all 10,000 rounds of Magtech 115-grain FMJ ammunition through the SR9--plus another 2,000 rounds of other brands and weights--for a grand total of zero failures. Oh, there was one shooter who mentioned a failure to fully close, but since the SR9 was smoking-hot (literally) at the time, and he had a huge leather lineman's glove on his left hand, we suspect the glove caused the glitch and didn't blame the pistol. We did all that shooting in two afternoons! Halfway through we slipped a Streamlight tactical light and laser on it. Despite being very smoky, the gun still worked fine. And we didn't clean it once.

I still cant find any torture tests with the SR9? does anyone still have any links?
There is one on youtube of a man who dumps his SR9 and mag into a mud puddle. As his wife yells at him he loads the soiled mag into the mud caked gun and fires 10 rounds without fuss.

That would be Raminator who is a member here. It's OK when his wife only yells at him. She's a great shot. Problems could result if she starts shooting at him when he intentionally dumps his weapons in the mud...

NutNFancy did a couple of videos on the SR9 where he had issues and he sent the unit back to Ruger. Ruger fixed things for him.

I have a SR9c and my Dad has the SR9. No issues with either.

Old thread.

I admit I like the SR9, really like the SR40, but would LOVE an SR10... I'm just 9mm'ed out for now. And to be honest, most modern 9mm full size guns are work horses since they seem to be designing most of them with the .40SW in mind for the next issue. And ruger builds a good gun that can be beat to heck and run dry and dirty??? This is news still??? I would be more shocked to hear it won't run filthy and full of muck. I can't point a real finger at any of Ruger's models that won't run dirty. The Mark series will finally fill up with so much crud that they will jam but that's a bunch of .22 before that happens. I think that is the one I hear the most about.

i wanna see someone dump thousands of rounds in it like they did with Glock, i guess the price of bullets prevents people from doing it.

Coffee Pot used to work for Ruger. He said they would randomly pull pistols for testing; 25,000 rounds had to be fired in the gun and gun inspected for excessive or abnormal wear.
