Just a bit ago when I walked home from my neighbor's-passed the mailman and he told me someone was drilling a hole in my front yard. I said "Really?" and he told me someone in a white van. Well, I hurried around the corner and got a great surprise. I guess the Rotary is putting up flags for 9/11 and my wife had ordered one...she looks great waving in the breeze. Hot, tired, sore, and dirty from work I found myself straightening up and walking taller---and, though my paint clothes aren't a uniform-I couldn't resist a snappy salute---my heart burst with pride and when I thought about the surprise played on us five years ago, I wanted to reflect on it a bit and encourage everyone to be awake, alert, armed, and ready to put our lives on the line to stop anything they might pull again-I know I can speak for lots of us grey hairs-if they have balls enough to bring it to us-we might just have a few surprises for them...what they see on tv, our gov't spokesmen and politicians are not necessarily that accurate a representation of what Americans are-over there, our warriors are subject to rules-they start something over here-there are no rules---just get'r'done!!!

One of the most beautiful things I've ever seen is our nations flag flying in the breeze. I've flown one 24/7/365 ever since I got out of the serice.

Thanks for the reminder, Dave!

Since my parents passing earlier this year I have since bought out my brother's share of their house and made it my own. The folks have a flag and Dad had fixed an inground contraption accept a small flag pole.

I'm puttin' it up monday in honor of those lost on 9/11.... and again will put it up on 9/17, in rememberance of Dad's birthday and his service in WW2.

I wore a flagpole out a while ago and haven’t gotten around to replacing it yet. It’s definitely on my list of things to do though.

We have a 38’ 5th wheel camper we keep on a seasonal lot a ways from here, and I always fly the US flag and the Marine Corps flag out there.

I gotta get with the program here at the house!
