I posted a thread about our dove hunt yesterday up in the Hunting forum. Not much to report really - winds were blowing and the few doves we saw went screaming by laughing their tail feathers off at us. Cleaned up the guns today so I decided to take a few pictures. We do enjoy our Red labels!

My son's 20 ga.

My 12 ga.

My old 12 ga. (1985 serial number)

Detail of the wood on the old 12 ga. The older guns seem to have the nicest wood. The Pachmayr pad is pretty tired and there are many field scars. But she's a great old gun and a good shooter.

Easy arg0naut! There's a Red Label out there for you somewhere..... Thought you might like to see a few pictures. You don't see many shotgun photos in the gallery forum. Not sure why that is.

i DO love the pics-- it just makes me covet even more, though. yeah, that is weird that there aren't more pics. from a purely aesthetic point of view, shotguns should be held in higher regard. wood, finish, everything. i think of what i'd put up on the mantle for public viewing and it's always some iteration of shotgun.

Robin, that's my secret wish list Red Label - 28 ga. engraved with an English stock.

And a Woodside...

And a English stocked Gold Label......

That is a fine looking set of Red labels.

I have a 12 ga and it fits like it was custom built for me. I always felt the stainless version would be the perfect shotgun for waterfowl/turkey hunting and by the time I started looking for them Ruger had stopped production. Now they are tough to find locally. No way I'm laying out that kind of money to buy on an auction site.

Thanks Terry. I know what you mean about ponying up a lot of money on a gun just based on a description and some photos. I did acquire the 20 ga. that way but the seller was an individual, not a gun store/pawn shop/flipper and we talked about it before I got it. He told me he slightly exaggerated the flaws (it was 10 years old and had been used in the field) so the buyer wouldn't be disappointed and he was right - it was in better condition than it was described. And it was under $1K so we're not talking big money, certainly not big money in the shotgun world. My son is 11 and he handles it really well. It should last him the rest of his life (if he takes good care of it, as I remind him every time we shoot...)

Waveform, I got to shoot one, and fell in love with it. It is light as a feather. (about 5 pounds), and points well. Recoil is minimal. This would be a perfect quail gun....Robin

I've handled and pointed a couple of 28 ga. Red Labels but not with the English stock. For some reason that's the way I want one. It just seems right to me somehow. They're out there but I haven't come across one with engraving. I don't know why I think I want the engraved version....but I do!

Only have one and it is a 28 with 28" barrels and also have the Briley Ruger 410 bore tubes. Great little shotgun and I was lucky enough to find the 410 tubes. Hard to believe they dropped the O/U especialy the 28.

Tis a sad thing for sure. Sounds like you have a nice 28. Rumors here on another thread suggested the RL may return but I'll believe it when I see it (and be happy too.)

Thanks James. The 20 ga is my son's so one day it will leave the house with him. My Dad has a sweet English stock 20 ga RL so there's another one in the extended family.
