So to have some fun and where people might learn what a terms mean, I came up with a idea for a game of sorts
Rule 1. take the term the person ask before you answer it
Rule 2. put a new term up for the next person to answer
Rule 3. do not stop the chain of learning

example term - rim fire
Answer - this is where the firing pin strikes the rim of the cartridge base to ignite a primer

Are we sticking with gun terminology? I think of CTBO as referring to certified time between overhaul in aircraft engines.
If that is correct I submit: COL

CTBO doesn't that have something do with measurement of a cartridge base ???
Actually it’s a reloading term...Cartridge Base To Ogive.

But, I didn’t see in the rules where it was “gun” terminology only. I figured since the majority of us reload, (at least think) and it’s somewhat a part of our sport it was acceptable to toss into the mix.

If you’re not reloading you don’t know what you’re missing out on. :p

FCG - fire control group, which is a term primarily for semi-autos, but is the trigger, hammer/striker group. Reason I say semi auto is for firearms like the AR (just to pick one) it is one assembly. I know, broad strokes and overly simplistic, but keeping to the cliff notes version.

correction on 10/22, that is incorrect. It actually stands for my birthday.

Next term - Berdan Primer

@Bass Man, great topic. You took what could have been a “boring” topic, kind of like reading a dictionary, and made it fun.

Berdan Primer.....usually have an anvil with at least two holes sometimes three. Where as a boxer only has one.
