This is the thread to share your HO train layout!!

So after a positive reaction and interest from other forum members i decided to add a dedicated thread for my layout. Irs a continuing work in progress that i am still working on. So from time to time will add photos of the layout, trains, and related. I based this layout on my hometown and neighboring towns. The buildings i used are very similiar to what i see locally, and painted as such. I run Norfolk Southern, CSX, Norfolk Western , Southern, and Union Pacific, all which have traveled my area. So without further chatter here is a few pics of my hobby. Some i have posted before, but sone i have not. I have this based on present day era.

I can’t help but still think of NCLEO89 when I see trains. Charles would’ve really dug this Tacky.

Now I gotta ask one question - the palm trees. Do you have palm trees in your part of NC?

Piggly Wiggly makes me smile. When I visit my Mom in MS we sometimes shop at “the pig”. That and Winn Dixie are real old southern grocery stores. Jitney Jungle was another one.

Nice job! This is the perfect time to start this thread. I am getting ready to get an HO for my four year old. He is obsessed with trains, especially steam, and it’s something else we can do together. I wish I knew what happened to my fathers HO trains from when he passed.

Been meaning to get a starter set to get going but I am waiting to see if the hobby shop that we get our model rockets will reopen. The owner is older and was fighting cancer before all this hit so I would rather give him my money anyway.

Keep the pics coming. I have already shown them to my older son and he loves it.

That is so cool! When I was kid I had a nice HO scale train set with a car track on it too. The car track crossed the train track in 2 places. I must admit, there might have been a few collisions.

I will admit, i did hijack the other, so i made good and moved elsewhere, sorry buddy.

I am glad you guys enjoy this as much as me, its my relief from the stressful job on the fire engine, which has gotten crazier since all this mess started. Cant help but think of Charles myself, he would have loved it i believe. I really do turn into a kid again when i am working on the layout. I tried to use familiar places as inspiration. I will add as many photis as i can. so you guys can enjoy it too. Everything is DCC so i can control everything simultaneously running 2 different directions on the same track. This also can control turnouts, and many other things. Way more advanced than when i was a kid. I still have parts of my old set, occassionally run them on the layout. But thats enough blabbling, now for more pictures.

This is my holding track for my locomotives waiting to he run.
