Part of my love of firearms is the direct link between mathmatical theory, and proof, that they provide. Few things in life are so well organized to provide such comfort in the physical world.

I only do mathematical theory between 9 and 5 Monday thru Friday, definitely not on the weekend!

I used super glue in all honesty ...

This particular mounting plate was or is for the Ruger P series and a few others. EGW makes other mounting plates for other firearm manufacturers.

I just found their website. They have them for the P226 also. I was considering having my slide milled. Hmm…

Only 3 bits of "advice", I would offer, either use a laser bore site, or start with your instinct draw point shot as ref. And lastly, and this may actually be just me, when you do go back to irons, if you use a "combat" hold, the "tansition" is easier.

Ok, curiosity kills the cat, soooooo I had to go check the red dot with the bore sighter. On the initial go, it was slightly right and a tad low. A few clicks of the windage and elevation screws has it damn near dead center. Now I really can't wait to get to the range!

I contemplated that on one of my other P series and upon inspection there isn't enough material for the milling. So this was the next best option for me.

I'm cross eye dominate. Not normal eyes. The farther forward a dot is the easier it is for me to use with both eyes open. I put one on my carry gun and it took a lot of dry fire practice and trips to the range before I was comfortable making it my edc.

Do you have astigmatism? Last week's attempt to see the front sight of my Blackhawk under our indoor range lighting reminded me why my Bullseye guns ended up with red dots a few years back. I dug out the S&W 41 yesterday, checked to see if the batteries still worked and was reminded that I do have astigmatism. The 'dot' that I see is more of a flattened, less than perfect oval on a roughly 1:30-7:30 axis. It is distracting but by keeping the brightness fairly low I can still put this 'odd' dot in the center of the target more easily than try to focus on a front sight.
I won't be drilling any of my Blackhawks (yet) because I can still see the front sight outdoors ... that day may yet come.
I do not understand the science behind it but where 'dot' sights do not play well with astigmatism, holographic sights like my Eotech are sharp and clear, adapting that hulking sight to a Blackhawk however is not even on my radar for the time being though.

I do not have astigmatism, with my age the arms just aren't long enough. So a few years back, someone somewhere on this very forum suggested the clip on cheaters and I haven't looked back (no pun intended).

I was in the same boat, once I started the material removal there was no going back. I figured if i Bidened up the mounting plate that would be the cheapest "fix" between it and the slide ...

I'm right handed and used to be right eye dominate. Now, I'm left eye dominate, I guess that makes me cross eye dominate or just cross eyed ... ???

Just an fyi that was pointed out last night by the fine fireman from North Carolina , if had been putting said FF3 and EGW mount on a glock it would have been easier because they are ugly I mean square! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I only have red dots on my .22 pistols. The rest of the pistols and revolvers are open site. I can relate to the focus problem between the site and target. I think old eyes are a reason to at least try the dot. I think you will find the dot a lot of fun. I also have them on my two chargers and two ARs. Well worth the expense.

Looks great. I don't have any experience in optics on pistols. Did you have to do any mods to the slide or tap it, or does the plate utilize the rear sight dovetail?

I did not have to modify the slide. I did however, have to fit the dovetail on the mounting plate to the slide. I got it to where i could slide it in half way then tapped it in from there. She ain't coming out unless you have a hammer and a piece of wood to tap it out with.
