Don't know if this is exactly a motto, but I'm fond of saying it. "Opinions are like *#@holes - everybody has one."

I have several, after all, one size never fits all...............

Shut up and do it.
Don't tell me what you think, show me what you know.
If talking about a problem solved it, we would never have to really do much of anything.
Though the dogs may bark, the caravan moves on.
If I wanted your opinion, clearly I would have asked for it..........I did not.
This is a partnership, you have a vote and I have a vote, but in my world, your vote does not count.

For a long time, my motto was:

”Compared to the eventual heat death of the universe, where does THIS problem rank?”

It‘s a bit esoteric, but it helped. These days, I’m finding that I am leaning more toward:

”Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everyone in sight.”

Such are the times we live in....

Another favorite:

”The last thing I want to do is hurt you, but it IS still on the list.”

Load the wagon and whip the mule.
You should be able to look at my ass and read my mind.

“No guilt to make one pale.” I might get that on my headstone. It is on William Byrd’s, a founder of Richmond, VA, my home town.

It was only later, long after I left Catholicism, that I adopted it. Then I read Nietzsche about how guilt was a slow poison. Instead, he advocated making things right.

Don't be a Mutt!
That is one I use at work a lot, mostly meaning do your job and don't leave stuff for others to fix, clean up, etc.

"Happiness is wanting what you have, not having what you want" This has served me well for the last 50 years since I first read it on the office wall of a then employer, the best machinist I have ever known. RIP CP "Bill" Foster.

My wife and I seem to be saying this one a lot :
"No good deed goes unpunished."

My father was fond of telling me when I was growing up:
"A hard head makes a soft ass."

My deceased brother liked.
"Better to be pissed off than pissed on."

I've lived my life and made my reputation with:
"My word is my bond" & "What you tell me in confidence goes no further"

They're not my mottos, but sometimes they apply more than others.

"Some days you're the pigeon, some days you're the statue."

"Some days you're stuck spinning your wheels, some days you are the wheel."
