Just finished 50 rounds of light 12ga. For some reason I decided to try adding buffer to a 7/8 oz load of No.8. It is getting better as my technique improves but is certainly a PIA and can't likely improve my low trap scores to any quantifiable amount. Not really sure why I had buffer to add, it apparently seemed like something to try when I was ordering 'stuff' several years ago. When I started I would have sworn that you could not fit the recommended 2.5cc in hull but I am learning not to add it all at once and rapping the side of the hull (with a pin punch) vibrates it down between the pellets much better than tapping the shell base on the press did. Somehow I do not expect my score tomorrow to show any improvement. I think that I will put the Buffer back on a shelf until I try loading something like buckshot .... maybe someday.
With a bit more down time today, i took advantage and loaded up 100 rounds of 40 s&w ... 165 gr xtreme rnfp in front of 7.2 grains of accurate #5 ... with hindsight being 20/20 i wish i would have did 200 ...
50 rounds of 30-06, 180 grain Remington spitzer bullets behind 55 grain IMR 4350.
Used the cheap rounds to sight in a new scope. Bore sighted at 25 yards, shot a few rounds at 25 yards and 100 yards, good to go.
Also loaded 357 mag, 158 grain lead SWC-WN, behind 15.2 grains of H-110. Tried out new Hogue grips with out finger grooves. Much better for my hand size than the stock grips. This is a nice shooting round for my GP-100, 6 in.
First ammo for the new to me 106 year old Swedish Mauser ...
New (25 year old +/- Remington brass with whatever primers the person I inherited them from used (most likely Winchester judging by the others I inherited from him)
The first bullets I found in the stash were Speer 140 grain so they were used (have some Hornady and some Nosler Partition in the collection for later)
38 grains of the IMR 4350 that I bought in the '90s for my Wimbledon Gun should give me a starting load at around 2,300 fps
Ran the Sierra Infinity Ballistics program
Now I need to take it to the range and find out if I can still see Iron Sights!
