What's my 1959 Mark I Worth?

My father bought this 1959 Mark I back in '63 in Germany from an old Gunny he knew. We've had it in the family since then. Since I am the only one of my generation left, I have a small arsenal, having inherited everything by now, and am considering getting some insurance to cover said arsenal. (My dilemma is giving all the serial numbers up to ANYONE!) Having said that, can I get a decent estimate on my Mark I from you folk? I've included a closeup of the small amount of oxidation around the ejection port. Other than that, its in good shape. Evidently Dad sent it to Ruger in 1978 for repair of some sort, for that's the date on the box. (I had graduated and was living in another state by then.) I'm uncertain what the repair was for, but the pistol shoots just fine now.

thats a big swing ,lol
Realistically, any item is worth what someone else will give for it. That individual pistol undoubtedly has immense sentimental value to the OP, but only current market value to a prospective buyer. I have firearms inherited from my father which I will never sell as their personal connection is priceless to me. If you are selling a highly sentimental firearm, prepare to be disappointed in the realized price.

Insurance value and replacement estimation is one thing. (wide range depending on condition)
The fact that your dad owned it and the history of it in the family is worth its weight in gold. That is a nice Mark I.
*I too am very cautious anymore giving out serial numbers.
Good luck and clear skies OldRmyBrat!
Thank you, folks! I truly appreciate your input.

just curious , did they include a compensator with that pistol?
According to the Blue Book of Gun Values, your MK I lists for $650 in 100% condition. The corrosion around the ejection port and the bolt can be cleaned up to look like new but in the current condition, you are looking at a value of $400.
I bought this "Standard" from 1955 last year with box, documents and extra mag for $350...

See in the pictures that it has a #12 prefix so that Mark I is NOT a 1959 but from around 1973 as well as the box pictured is one of the "new' model" boxes and inside on the top lid should be a copyright date of 1973 on the inner lid,,,,,so the lower prices noted above would hold true for insurance value........hope this helps

rugerguy, Good eye! I missed that prefix, but it looks more like a 16 than a 12. If so, that would make it 1980-ish. I see the manual is dated 11/79, so that pretty much makes 1980 production about right.
this is worth $400 i saw it on ebay for sale

sorry i wasn't thinking straight i meant to say gunbroker
yes, I zoomed in and it doe s look like an #18 and would agree with the 79 dated manual...is there a "warning notice" on the left side of the barrel????after Jan.1 1979 they starting marking them...and yes as noted above thats about the going rice for the "package" just wish there was less pitting on the receiver....it would be a piece of cake to redo one of this model.......(y)
