As the title says- what gun in your collection isn't very nice or pretty, but is one you like?
Mine is this old Taurus model 66, 357 magnum. I got it as a throw in with another purchase for a whopping $100. It's scratched up and was dropped on it's rear sight at one point, pinching one of the blades in. I've learned that with my sight picture, if I touch the tip of the bent sight to the top corner of the front sight, it's a tack driver, so I haven't changed it out yet. It's been the gun that guards my front door for a dozen years, and I have every confidence in it when I answer the door with it tucked behind my leg.
My Glock 21.
A police trade-in, looked brand new and was priced so low I couldn't pass it up.
.45ACP which I like, and the gun shoots well and it's accurate, of course Glocks are very utilitarian.
But it's also frickin' HEAVY.
I have a love for bastards. 18" AR cause 20 is too long and 16 has no rifle gas. Turkey "thugs" cause vented barrels are cheaper after they aren't in vogue. A 92fs, cause it doubles as a really heavy boomarang. When I do get a "non ugly gun" like a regular 16" ar, I put an lpvo and a flash can on it so it fits in.
My Russian built Imez Makarov 380, ugly grips, thin bluing. The slide bit me the first time I shot it, learned quickly to not high hand it!
But it is 100% reliable, just runs and runs, commie craftsmanship I guess...
Not my favorite but definitely the ugliest. Hi-Point 380 belonged to my daughter. She thanks it's cursed so she gave it to me for safe keeping. We call it the Club.
My ugly gun was a RAPC in 9mm, but in the midst of the pandemic, my nephew needed something and I didn't want him to get gouged, so I sold it to him. The rest that I have are not ugly
SR1911 fullsize
SR1911 officer (I did add hogue grips to make it fit better; makes it less pretty, but not really ugly)
10/22 takedown
Mark IV Lite (gold)
And my oldest; a Mossberg 500 that I have had for 25 years
Here is a neat little revolver I inherited from my father. Ugly, but cute. The trigger folds forward, making it very concealable in a jacket pocket. It only shoots 22 Shorts, but it would do in a pinch.
Mine would be this Star Model 30 M with a decade old Durakote finish which is beginning to chip off. The gun operates like ball bearings rolling in liquid Teflon, however. I need to have this plated professionally.
Life is too short to own ugly guns I did get crazy once and bought a used Glock 19, shot it once and sold it.
The other guns in my safe were threatening to strike 🙃 it had to go.
I bought this Rem/Mar Mdl 60 SS on clearance at Wall-Mart for the same reason and to protect my old Win 290
Someday I might pick up an old Marlin Glenfield Squirell stock and modify it to fit and get a little better scope.
