I'm glad the moose was exhausted & didn't fight it. The ranger was very brave and now has a great story to tell! ;)

i'd agree with the above. you can hear the moose breathing hard-- that's an exhausted animal. he was probably familiar enough with humans, and at that level of exhaustion, to give up and accept help. saw an awesome youtube and travel channel vid of a whale doing the same thing basically in the gulf of california. whale finally was freed from a fisherman's net by some whale watchers (mind you, it was exhausted and starting to just sink into the water). when freed it swam off, breathed a whole bunch, and then breached for about 30 minutes in exultation. pretty freakin' cool vid. i think this moose was in a similar mindset, but that certainly doesn't detract from the bravery of the ranger going in.
