Why do You carry? And what?

3269 Views 112 Replies 70 Participants Last post by  Twobits
I've noticed a few forums here asking about different reasons for carrying revolvers only or bigger more capacity semi-autos etc.
Each of us has a real and very personal reason for carrying. I'm a student of people. I'd really like to see the what's and why's behind people's ideas.
I won't judge You your choice but I will ask questions challenging your thoughts. Seriously, you do you. Will you share why with me?

Thanks!

@Robert70 and everyone else, thanks again for your responses.
Again, Robert70 no one has a gun to your head to respond.
I like conversations with people who like to share their thoughts. If you don't want to then don't.
Would it matter to you if I started this conversation with, I'm a PhD student and looking for unfiltered responses? Because then those responses would be filtered. I am not currently matriculated in any doctoral program, and if I were, I would have accepted the full ride for my PhD in Global Economics.
Maybe I'm questioning why I carry and thought that random group thought from assumed like minded strangers might be helpful.
Maybe as I said from jump. I'm just curious.
I hope I haven't challenged anyone here except You for their response.

Why assume malicious intent, when ignorance will suffice?
Wow, are you getting your PHD from Berkley? When a person, unknown to me begins their query with words like 'I'm going to challenge you for what you carry (no biggie) and why you carry (again no biggie), the one word you used that concerned me 'Track'. That set my teeth on edge. And your last line is the real deal as to your, lets say personality:

"Why assume malicious intent, when ignorance will suffice?" That, tells me a lot about you. I don't know you, you don't know me. I haven't been on this Forum a long time. But long enough for people to get to know who I am and what I'm about. You referring to me as 'ignorant' is not only very telling of how you see yourself. Also how you see others. Especially anyone who doesn't 'Track' along with you. My feeling/hunch about you has been proved to me beyond a shadow of a doubt. But, really, no harm, no foul. I live and let live. I don't trust you. especially now. End of discussion, have a nice day.

Hey super moderator. Time to shut this thing down. The guy who started it is a political troll.

Robert70,

I'm sorry, I've missed where I said Track anything.

Second, I meant MY IGNORANCE, not yours.

Please don't assume I'm being malicious in my intent, just try to assume I'm a guy asking an ignorant question.

I profoundly thank each and every person here who took the time to answer me.

There is an understandable mistrust on the internet. People have seen the damage that can happen up close and ... closer.
People like myself do not have enough smarts to be afraid. Others are wiser and wary.
It is, what it is.

I don't have a horse in this race and whatever the government "big daddy" wants to know in most cases already knows about each of us, especially if you are on the interweb 😊

Unless we are flat out lying about former responses and pictures posted. If you want to stay "off the grid" you wouldn't be here in the first place.

Fellas, let's not get our panties in a wad over attempting to decipher the meaning or implication of the typed word compared to a face to face conversation, life's too short.

Say good night Gracie.....

I love my Kahr CW380 and have handled the K9. Nice gun but too big for my pockets once I would put it into a holster. I prefer the leather holsters from Azula. With the CW380 it sits low enough in most of my pockets that the but doesn't show in the pocket opening. With Remington 88gr HP it packs a good punch and expands quite a bit when shot into full milk jugs. Usually find it in the 2nd one with a mark on the backside of that jug. 1st jug usually splits with 2nd one having a good size hole in it.
I gave my daughter my Kahr CW380 for carry several years ago after I broke it in and confident it never misses a beat. I am probably going to acquire a CM9 and CM45 for pocket carry very soon. I have a CW45 with one sweet trigger that really like. The CM line is the smallest single stack form factor you can find in 45 and 9 that I see. The CM9 beats the Sig P365 in small size. I'm sold.

LengthHeightWidthWeight
P3655.8 in4.3 in1 in17.8 oz
CM95.42 in4 in0.9 in15.9 oz

I notice magazine capacity is missing from your comparison. 😉

Good Point!!! I guess if I had a 30 round magazine to the Kahr, that changes things a bit on all fronts! :ROFLMAO:

No, seriously, you have a point I overlooked. In the case of pocket carry, I am more interested in overall maximum concealability in a specific environment. I carry a back up magazine, but hopefully I'm finding serious cover and on the phone with 9-1-1 before having to resort to a second magazine. From my investigations, I think the most likely scenario of a gun on gun encounter these days is either a car-jacking in an inner city or road rage. The latter should not require you to shoot unless you are pinned in and can't lead the pursuer to a local police station to vent their rage. Car jacking, make your shots count.

In your home, a drum magazine is completely justifiable.:)

Hahaha, yes once Castle is reached, then I'm cached with all the bear traps.
I am concerned with over shooting or shooting through the walls tho.

Calling 911 in the middle of a gunfight? I hope my focus is on the threat and my surroundings if lead is flying.

A mag change 15 seconds at most, police response 15 min at best.
