Was considering a 10/22 w/threaded barrel for a suppressor host. However, I’ve been reading up on the Ruger Charger with threaded barrel.

For the life of me, I can’t say I want one of these much less need a Charger but am intrigued by it for some reason?

I would appreciate feedback from any Charger owners with threaded barrel and experience (good, bad, etc) with a suppressor.

Thanks in advance!

hope mr. 28decoys get his pistol back in tip-top shape! i had a lot of fun with my FrankenCharger pistol this morning - set up absolute cowitness:

Image

optics formula was a Bushnell TRS 25, UTG sub-compact rear sight, and NDS front sight (i'm a cheap old codger)

the pistol consists of KAK Shockwave, neoprene sleeved tube, UTG folding adapter, PMACA TD chassis, used *Charger* receiver (which makes it legal), parts box trigger assembly and bolt, AR plug for grip (to store CR2032, hex keys, etc.), Ruger rail, Whistlepig Acculite 10" barrel, Blackhawk thumb rest, and quick-detach flashlight holder:

pistol can also be used in folded position with access to safety, mag release, trigger, charging handle:

and then it conveniently breaks down to fit in my mil-surp man purse:

i only had to adjust the rear sight for windage after the red dot was sighted in... quite happy that i didn't have to futz around with risers, etc.

Ole linux and I need to team up for a match if he doesn't mind his partner being 68 years old, might kick some butt. 25 yards, but I'm doable for 50.
ya got me beat by four years - a match sounds like fun! i've just started having access to an outdoor range locally and may give my Charger TDs a go at 50 - won't be until it stays light out a bit longer (shooting club meetings are at 1830 on the first Mon evening of every month)

nice lookin' Charger! that Copper Custom adapter is a brilliant accessory - makes everything possible - not needed on the PMACA, but my other Charger likes it a lot

:)

still like to hear from the OP about his Charger TD and how it turned out back from Ruger - hope it turns out well - these are great little pistols

It’s been almost 3 wks since I sent in my Charger. Other than the email acknowledgement I received when it arrived, Ive not heard anything else. I sent a follow up email last week but no reply.

I was really expecting to have it back in my hands in good working order by now.

as promised, here is a target pic from yesterday of one of my Charger TDs, which eats cheap Aguila SV LRN with aplomb (150 rounds, no malfunctions); pistol consists of a factory TD pistol stock, Copper Custom and UTG adapters, cheap TAPCO Saw grip (lots of storage!); SBA3 brace, cheap red dot, UTG rear peep and Nodak front sight, with Kidd lower-power spring/charging handle, factory bolt and firing pin, VQ extractor, bolt-release mod, and bobby pin trigger spring (quite smooth!):

i hope the OP's TD is arriving soon - we all want to know how this turns out!

Good evening all,

I apologize for the delay in responding. I received my Charger back from Ruger shortly after posting my last response that it had taken a while. When I received it, there was some marring on the bottom of the mag well so I sent it back and it was repaired.

I finally got it to the range a couple of weeks ago and it shot really well and I was able to get my red dot sighted in. I tried a variety of ammo including: Blazer, Aguila 22 super extra and CCI subsonic. I had a couple of FTEs/FTFs but it was mainly with the factory BX15 magazine. I didn't have any issues with the factory Ruger 10 round mags I had purchased. The only ammo I really had difficulty with was with CCI "Quiet-22" and only shot a handful of rounds of it as it was FTE after every round.

Overall, I am very pleased and look forward to running my suppressor on it in the near future.

Thank you again for everyone's responses and recommendations!

very good, mr. 28decoys! glad to hear your rig is running right!

and yes, i like the 10-round mags - got a mag loader and a bunch of 2-mag and 3-mag couplers and don't have to worry malfunctions on the bench at the range...

let's see some targets!

It took several trips to the range for my non-takedown charger to break in and not misfeed. It was picky about ammo at first. I found it did well with the RemingtonThunderbolts and with Aguila brands. It did not like the BX-25 mags at first, but it does fine now. It’s fun loading up a 25 and a 15 round magazine and going for forty shots. I put a cheap red dot on it and a muzzle brake for looks. The thing is pretty accurate, considering I’m half-blind. My main reason for buying it was home defense and just plinking. I have several other guns, but this one is the most fun to shoot.
