Do you think the new congress will pass a bill regarding suppressors as a non NFA item?

It will be interesting to see. I do not own a suppressor as their effectiveness is marginal but as they improve I would purchase one if it was a non NFA item...........

we had a very slim majority then coupled with a handful of Trump hating Rhinos that handcuffed him in his first term , he actually has a very favorable party support rating this go around out of the gate where as he was only gaining party support of any measure halfway through his first term , hes a GOP rock star this time , but the margins are in his favor to make up for the two rhino bit ches in AK and Maine , he doesnt have McCaine to fight , and Mitt Romney is not a thing anymore , the man is poised for great things , and we know he will hit the ground running

im 61 so one thing he promised that i really liked is he wants to abolish tax's on Social Security Benefits , you pay into it your entire life , they keep pushing back eligibility , and then when you get it they tax you like its earned income as if it is enough to begin with

On the bright side, the idiots in charge of the ATF will be gone along with the rest of the cabinet. I imagine a major house cleaning after what the alphabets did to Trump. Might see a lot of retirements. With some of the pressure off SCOTUS we might see some more favorable rulings.
I got a survey asking what is the 1st order of business when Trump takes office. I hit other and said Free the J6 Prisoners.

Absolutely not. For all the campaign promises, the vast majority (if not all) of the people in power don't give a fig about making it easier for you to own suppressors, because they don't stand to benefit. If the suppressor industry started buying politicians like other industries do, you'd see a change, but I don't think they're big enough.

I guarantee the “suppressor industry” doesn’t want the rules changed because they know a muffler shouldn’t cost the ridiculous prices they’re now fetching. They go free market prices would plummet.

I don't think that suppressors will be taken off the NFA list in the near future, is ever. With the Republicans having the White House and Senate and likely to have the House too it would be an ideal time to do it. But I think it would be very low on the legislative agenda because the Republicans are going to be busy reversing Biden's regulations and also modifying laws or repealing them. I think the better chance at allowing suppressors to escape the NFA classification would be legal action. That would eventually reach SCOTUS which might just allow it.

Many people .... even gun owners cringe at the thought of silencers. Why? They have been a NFA item for years so people think they are bad. I wear hearing aids, mostly because of range time without hearing protection. When I was much younger and in Federal law enforcement, only sissies used hearing protection. I was in my early 40's before I had an opportunity to fire a 308 bolt rifle with a can. It was not really silent as the movies depict, but it lowered the sound level enough where you could get by without hearing protection. I really doubt silencers will be taken off the NFA list.

I think the atf is going to have a bit of retooling. The sc new faces seem to lean toward less federal regulation (as should ALWAYS be the case). But as someone mentioned, these types of things are usually issue driven by a legal action. Which we do not discuss with any kind of in depth look (and for good reason).

So, expect changes. Write your house reps and speak your minds :)

I think they'll eliminate the paperwork........that will mean that there will be such a great demand that it will be years before you can get one.

But it's progress.

I hate to say it, but I think this is why often things like hearing protection act don't pass. It starts with "let's remove suppressors from the NFA" and turns in to talk of other things, then people get scared and back down. Same thing happens on the other side, talk of universal background checks turns into talk of banning things and other regulations and everyone freaks out.

Unless the two parties can compromise on something nothing is going to change on regulations. My understanding is they are the kind of changes that require a 60 vote majority. Compromise means giving to get, what would be given up to get the HPA passed?

I think a lot of people who are comparing this go around with last are forgetting: There were a lot of anti-trump reps in office last time, and they were vocal, and they caused problems. Plus you had a Pres who had never held a public office in his life, and freely admits he didn't get much done because he had no idea what he was doing.

Like every other day in politics, write or call your representative(s). They respond to the issues that are most important to their constituents . If instead of hand wringing here about whether Congress will change BATFE with regard to suppressors, write a letter or make a phone call. By the time we have all rung their ears, they should hear us. If we want it we can have it.

Doubt it. Too many RINO's, closet dictators, and yellow stain clowns fear full of the media and being left off the guest list for the free booze and Swedish meatballs to get a majority. Add to that congress hasn't done anything for decades, they are going to have to be feed with a baby spoon not a barn shovel. Too many other (bigger?) issues That will have to be feed to the lazy SOBs

Why would any current politician, correction, why would any current Republican politician fear anything from the fake News Network media at this point following the election? The media is on the ropes, finish them off. Take the kid gloves off, and beat them to within an inch of their corporate lives. Then abuse the survivors.

There is exactly zero credibility right now in the fake news networks. Granting them any foothold in American politics would be a serious laps in judgment.

They have EARNED their own demise. Let them wallow in it. Ignore them. Ostracize them. Turn your back on them. Speak of them no more. Without an audience they wield no power.
