I don't use it as a go to load, but have tested IMR 4227 out of a 6 1/2" BH from 10.2g (902fps) to 14.0g (1092fps) under 158g SWC and CCI-550 primers. I marked 10.2 as very accurate in my load table. YMMV of course.

Great thing about it is it doesn't need magnum primers
Actually it likes magnum primers though. Not a have to... but it does like 'em .

For my primer test I was using .45 Colt.

20.0g IMR 4227, 255g SWC, CCI-300, _911fps, 35 SD, 138 ES, 30 shots
20.0g IMR 4227, 255g SWC, CCI-350, 1030fps, 18 SD, _69 ES, 29 shots

So, I always use Magnum primers with 4227 for better consistency.

The power granules binding up my guns though is very frustrating
On the other side of the coin, I have never had this happen. I've shot a couple hundred rounds through my original Vaquero and BHs (.45 Colt) in the past with nary a problem before cleaning (Yes, sometimes I get a bit lax  ) . My take, is yes it leaves some granuales but they in no way hinder the action of the revolver(s) in question. I do not use a 'heavy' crimp either. YMMV of course :) . Won't touch 296/H110 as that is only good for high end loads which I have no use for.
