I've been loading 357 Mag loads with IMR4227 since the late 70's. Like it a lot, use it mainly when I want some loads with 'spit and vinegar'. Have used it both with hard cast bullets with gas check(Lyman 358156) and jacketed bullets. Really liked it with Speers 140 grain HP and the 3/4 jacketed 146 grain HP. Sierras 150 HC was a good one too. Always loaded 16-17.5 grains of 4227-accurate rounds. Not to long ago, I started loading for 44 Mag, using IMR4227 with RCBS's 44 caliber Keith style SWC cast bullet. I've never tried as of yet Hodgon's 4227, have a lb of it, but haven't loaded with it yet. IMR4227, a good powder, right up there with 296, H110 as far as I'm concerned. Never had any of the granule/ash problem with it.
